Re-Inventing The Balcon Restaurant & St James Bar


The Balcon is a hidden gem, located within the Sofitel London St James hotel. A fine dining French brassiere style restaurant is a corridor away from the chic St James Bar, which is decorated to recreate the French chic of Coco Chanel’s bedroom. Our goal was to reintroduce both The Balcon and The St James Bar to London media, lifting them above the anonymity often associated with five-star, city based establishments.

Campaign Summary

Since Clementine has started to work with The Balcon and the St James Bar in January 2016, we have capitalized on all The Balcon driven initiatives like new menus and chefs to create a constant stream of media visits and coverage. Notably this included the appointment of new head chef Matt Greenwood and the personal touches he brought to the previously classically French menu. Clementine has recommended and instigated a series of seasonal activations, like the installation of an in-house rose garden during Chelsea Flower Show to help drive increased visits to the hotel during that time as it is close by.

Key Performance Indicators

We’ve utilised the beautiful surroundings of both the restaurant and bar to host a number of media driven activities on behalf of other clients, like Caviar Sturia and Metaxa, generating more media visits as a consequence and developing mutually beneficial relationships for our clients via our introduction.
