Clarendelle lunch and workshop ‘L’art de la table’ at the Spring Restaurant

On the 24th of October, Clarendelle, a family of premium Bordeaux wines inspired by-Haut Brion, organized a stunning lunch at the Spring Restaurant in Somerset House, London. Clarendelle the brainchild of Prince Robert of Luxembourg, CEO, and Chairman of Domaine Clarence Dillon, was named in honor of his great-grandfather, Mr. Clarence Dillon.

Prior to lunch, the guests had the opportunity to attend a flower arranging, table setting workshop “L’Art de la table” where they learned how to perfectly style their dining table for any occasion.

Hosted by a florist, Hannah Bullivant, the workshop added a new dimension to the event, more interaction and some sophistication in line with the Chateau Quintus brand. “L’Art de la table”, refers to how a table is dressed, the tablecloth and napkins, the silverware, the porcelain dishes, the crystal glasses, candlestick holders, flowers, appropriate lighting, etc. One doesn’t need the most expensive tableware to dress a table artfully…the objective is to create a beautiful picture (un tableau) without using paintbrushes.

After rousing speeches on the winery’s history delivered by the Managing Director of Clarendelle, Gérard Blanloeil, and the Operational Director, Nathalie Bossot, it was about time for the lunch during which the guests could discover the wines of Clarendelle, inspired by Haut-Brion and its history.

As starters, delicious burrata with chard, San Daniele and chili oil were served paired with the wonderful Clarendelle Blanc 2018 and Clarendelle Bordeaux 2015. Served together with Clarendelle Saint-Emilion 2016 and Clarendelle Médoc 2016, the main dish consisted of wild halibut with borlotti beans, spinach, and black olive dressing. The beautiful lunch was then finished with Clarendelle Amberwine 2015 and an exquisite dessert – apple and prune tart with Armagnac caramel and crème fraiche.

With an array of fantastic wine, fabulous food, and stellar company, the day was an outstanding success and we are looking forward to the next event hosted by Clarendelle!
