With the warmer months fast approaching, Franciacorta is an ideal location for those in pursuit of a tranquil and picturesque getaway this summer. Situated an hour from the characteristic city of Milan, the sparkling wine region sits in the heart of Lombardy, Italy, and can be easily accessed from the UK.

Franciacorta is home to 116 wineries and produces some of the highest quality sparkling wines in the industry, having received the ultimate DOCG status in 1995 as the first Italian wine in this category. It focuses on stringent, hand-picked selections of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc grapes and the indigenous grape variety Erbamat. Franciacorta is crafted using the traditional method, with secondary fermentation occurring in bottle.

With its signature style, Satèn, being the ultimate aperitif to enjoy, due to its well balanced and fresh taste that has fine and persistent bubbles with leading notes of ripe fruits and white flowers. Satèn is named after it’s silky, satin like bubbles that are the result of its careful selection of the base wine and low bottle pressure.

The Franciacorta Brut is also a style that can be enjoyed dining alfresco, with its delectable hints of yeasty bread crust followed by delicate notes of citrus, almonds and hazelnuts. Along with its Rosé, which is a composition of light bubbles and fruity cherry aromas.
