Today we have to say goodbye to Sarah, our French intern who came to stay from Paris. She is studying for a degree in Communication and Advertising at ISCOM Paris.
After doing two internships in Abu Dhabi and Paris, we are glad to have had Sarah with us in London. At Clementine Communications we pride ourselves on our internship program, offering the opportunity to learn about the PR industry in a hands-on way! But the learning doesn’t stop there as interns are incredible assets to the team offering fresh ideas and aiding in the everyday support of the team. We have asked Sarah a few questions about her experience, read on to find out just how she got on:
What were your main tasks daily?
“My main duties were to aid in the management of a selected group of different brands with two main axes, Social Media and Press Relations.
During the course of four months, in addition to the working procedures and the tools of a Public Relations Agency, my main learning has been how to communicate with people and manage relationships. I feel far more prepared to face difficult situations in the workplace in the future. I have come to understand that whilst being professional is the most important element of an office you can still have fun with your colleagues as long as the work gets done and objectives are met.”
Do you have an idea of what your perfect job is?
“From my internship I have learnt that in PR it is not necessarily the product that is important but rather the way you approach the clients and the media, personally I find sport management to be more to my taste but who knows where I will end up.
I know that there are still many aspects of the communication that I still have to study with ISCOM and through future Internships, but I believe that, for the first time, I have really found what could be a possible start of my future career.”
What was your biggest challenge when you arrived?
“My main fear, starting this internship, was the language. Even if I have spent most of my life in an English-speaking environment, working in English was not so easy. Industry specific vocabulary and the diversity of the accents at Clementine Communications represented an additional challenge. I now realize that this challenge has been easy to handle, and I can recommend to other students not to be blocked by a language barrier. Communication is stronger than the language.”
An overview of your internship?
“I can honestly say that my time spent at Clementine Communications resulted in one of the best internships I’ve had in my life. Not only have I gained practical skills, but I also had the opportunity to meet many fantastic people. The atmosphere at the office was always welcoming which made me feel right at home. Additionally, I felt I was able to contribute to the Company.”
