With temperatures set to reach an all-time high this weekend, retailers look set to see a dramatic increase in sales of rosé, some having hinted that they may even overtake the perennial-favourite Prosecco.
Rebecca Hull, MW, Wine Buyer at Waitrose & Partners says: “We closely monitor the weather as a rise in temperature of even just a few degrees will see a change in what our customers are shopping for. We anticipate a rush on rosé as the weather is set to warm up.”
A spokesperson from the Decanter World Wine Awards commented, “A cold glass of rosé really is a taste of summer and with temperatures set to hit the late 20’s this weekend we’re expecting Brits across the country to reach for a glass or two. Our judges have tasted over 17,000 wines to find the best tasting rosés set to bring a taste of sunshine to every palate this summer.”
