The leader of the French brandy market, St-Rémy, has announced two new national UK stockists: premium British supermarket, Waitrose and drinks wholesaler, Matthew Clark.
St-Rémy is the leading French brandy producer worldwide. Its range of brandies are made entirely using French grapes that are sourced from the country’s best vineyards in Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, Beaujolais, the Rhône and Loire valleys, and Languedoc-Roussillon.
The partnerships indicate promising growth in the UK market for the prestigious French label, which has been praised by connoisseurs and critics alike since 1886. St-Rémy already has an 18% market share (IWSR 2017) and existing key markets including those in the United States, Canada and Australia.
Both Waitrose and Matthew Clark will stock the St-Rémy XO Brandy, which has won numerous gold medals at world renowned awards such as the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and the International Wine and Spirit Competition. The St-Rémy XO will be available in 274 Waitrose locations across the UK (RRP £22).
A rich and complex blend, the St-Rémy XO remains true to the style of the House. It is a brandy of character with complex aromas and a robust taste, recognised for its elegance, roundness and ability to linger on the palate. St-Rémy XO can be served neat, on ice or in classic cocktails.
John Vine, Spirits Buyer at Waitrose said: “We are proud to welcome St-Rémy’s award winning XO Brandy to our established portfolio of premium spirit brands. St-Rémy offers consumers a unique point of difference being that their brandy is made using 100% French grapes. We hope that this will be the beginning of a lasting relationship with the brand.”
