Working from home – the new #lifeatclementine

Here at Clementine, we’re been used to setting up our office in a variety of places. Whether it’s the Eurostar on the way to Paris or in SOHO House between meetings in central London. In light of the current situation, last week we took the decision to close our office in Parsons Green and begin operating fully from home.

Our office may be closed, but Clementine Communications is most definitely open and the team have adapted fast and thanks to a few technological advances, it’s almost like we’re together.

We’ve laid out some tips on how to work from home below. Hopefully these will help you to be productive and work well.

1.     Communication

Make sure to have regular contact with your colleagues, in an office environment we take for granted the office culture, camaraderie and just how easy it is to ask a question or for some help. Ensure to schedule calls with your team, use some video calling software such as Microsoft Teams, Google Hangouts or Zoom. Using chat features is another great way to replace the ‘water cooler chat’ that we might be missing!

2.     Set up your work space

By setting up your dedicated work space and sticking to it, it will be easier for your to switch off at the end of the working day. Without having the ‘break’ of a commute from work and the blurring of your personal and working space in the home, it’s important to set these rigid boundaries. Try to place yourself in a position with natural light and where you can get fresh air.

3.     Schedule breaks

For many, working from home takes a new mindset and way of thinking. To help with your productivity, it’s important to take scheduled breaks to keep yourself in check and sticking to the routine. For some, pomodoro technique is an easy way to stay on top of your time management. Of course, this depends on the individual and you have to find what works for you.
